Undra's Fish Stop Restaurant has excellent fish dishes which are a great example of Cayman cuisine. However, this restaurant is an interesting mixture of Caribbean cuisine (i.e. curry goat) and fast food (i.e. cheeseburger). Located in the heart of West Bay, the Cayman food from this restaurant is a favorite with the locals. A restaurant review would have to include the interesting people watching you can do while enjoying some Caymanian fried fish.
Undra's Fish Stop Restaurant
Restaurant Review
The first time I went to this Cayman restaurant was on a Friday night. We'd been busy during the day, and we were getting a late dinner. There is an old bar immediately opposite Undra's that I'm sure does not have air conditioning. At that time of year, it would have been cooler outside than inside the bar.
As we drove up to the restaurant, we saw hoards of people standing on the side of the road and also out into the street, holding beers, and chatting with their neighbors. The line to Undra's was long, and I realized that they must get a lot of business throughout the night from the bar.
At local places like this, my husband always orders the fish. He says it's best to stick with the local specialty, and he wasn't disappointed. This Cayman dish consisted of fried snapper on a bed of rice and beans mixed with gravy. The food was just great.
Undra's Fish Stop Restaurant Take Out Window
Undra's food consists of Cayman cuisine that includes fried King fish and conch fritters. Where as, its Caribbean cuisine is probably heavily influenced by Jamaica and has jerk pork and jerk chicken. In addition, Undra's has a fair amount of fast food such as cheese burgers, chicken tenders, fish burgers, and chicken burgers. Of course, the fast food is for the bar crowd.
