Jamaica Culture
Given that Jamaica is small island in the Caribbean, it's astonishing what a strong influence its culture has had on the rest of the wold. Jamaica music includes reggae, ska, mento, rocksteady, dub and more. It's influences include punk rock which includes reggae and ska. Jamaica's music also influences rap and hip-hop music which have the same type of west African tempo. Jamaican dance is associated more with the music. There are at least 30 distinctive dances and most can trace their roots to their African heritage.

Jamaica People
Like the rest of the Caribbean, the Jamaican people of are a mix of many nationalities. Most Jamaicans are of African descent (76%) due to slavery. Many Jamaicans are a mix of European and African descent (15%). Still others are of East Indian and Chinese descent (5%). Their ancestors were brought to Jamaica as indentured servants. The remaining Jamaicans are of European decent (4%).
