Grand Cayman Weather

The best Grand Cayman weather is during the dry season from December to April. A Caribbean weather forecast can help you determine the wet season and the height of hurricane season. As you may expect the dry season coincides with tourist season and it's when most visitors arrive for Caribbean cruise holidays. Also, some Grand Cayman Island activities are best during the dry season.

The best Cayman Islands weather is in December and January. These are my most favorite months of the year. The temperature is warm, but not too hot. There's not too much rain and the humidity is low. I love to take walks with my daughter through the Caymanian neighborhoods or go swimming in the ocean. The evenings are a little cooler so we sometimes sleep with the windows open. The weather is absolutely perfect.

Note that this is also tourist season. So, hotel prices, plane tickets, and cruise ship tickets all go up. In addition, beaches and attractions will be more crowded.

My least favorite months are July and August. The Cayman Island weather is really hot and really humid. It's difficult to go outside for a casual walk. Even a walk to the beach is a bit a challenge for a baby because the sand is so hot.

On the other hand, July and August are probably the least expensive months to visit the Cayman Islands. Hotels have all sort of specials, plane tickets are lower, and cruise ships have many discounts. Recently, some relatives visited and found a deal that combined their stay at the Marriott Hotel with their plane ticket. It was much less expensive than booking everything separately. If you don't mind the heat and humidity, this could be the best time to travel here.

The only time of year that you need to worry about is September and October because this is the height of hurricane season. Officially, hurricane season is the beginning of June until the end of November. Although, hurricanes do occur during that time period, the chance of them striking the specific island that you are visiting are pretty low. Hurricanes are fairly slow moving, so you will have several days notice before you will need to leave the island. However, I do recommend purchasing some sort of trip insurance if you are traveling during this time.

In my opinion, the best times to visit the Island are November, April, and May. The advantage of these months is that although, the weather is hot, is not blistering hot yet. In addition, these months are NOT in tourist season, so prices are a bit reasonable. November is technically still in hurricane season, but at least you are not in the peak portion of the season. April is right at the tail end of tourist season, so you may need to look a little to find bargains, but they do exist.
