What exactly is in those destination wedding packages? I got curious when I saw all of those romantic weddings on the beaches near my house. The bride and groom looked so relaxed and happy while holding hands or frolicking on the beach. I just wondered how brides and grooms go about organizing tropical weddings. It turns out that they purchase a wedding package. Just about everything is included in these packages such as a destination wedding planner, marriage officiant, marriage license, wedding venue, reception hall, and government fees.
When you plan your Cayman Island wedding, you will probably either use a wedding coordinator attached to a resort or a professional destination wedding planner. This is the person who will personally plan your wedding on site. They choose your wedding location, arrange the reception hall, handle the decorations, find a photographer, take care of the flowers, choose a wedding cake, and all other details of the wedding. The wedding planner can also suggest great ideas for a Cayman Islands honeymoon.

Below is a list of some professional wedding planners here in the Cayman islands. I'm only familiar with the Heart of Cayman because we used to live about a block away. My husband and I used them to purchase flowers for various events. I've met many members of the staff and they have always been friendly and courteous. Usually, the person planning your wedding can help you with the legalities of getting married in Grand Cayman. They can help sort out the correct forms and let you know about the legal fee. In addition, your wedding planner will also arrange for the marriage officiant. For your information, I've listed the general steps to get legally married here in Cayman:
- Go to the Deputy Chief Secretary's Office (345-949-7900) to obtain an application for a non-resident marriage licence. The application fee is $160 CI and is valid for 3 months.
- Provide your proof of citizenship, age, and marital status (if previously married).
- If you are here on vacation, provide a Cayman Islands immigration department card, otherwise, if you are on a cruise, provide international embarkation/disembarkation card.
- Provide a letter from the person who will be officiating the wedding.

Another alternative to getting married in Grand Cayman is Cruise Weddings. These weddings are popular because they are much easier to plan. Some cruise ship wedding packages include having the wedding before setting sail and while the ship is docked. In this way, guests can arrive for the wedding and leave before the ship sets sail for the Cayman Islands. The bride and groom have the advantage of having a wedding and honeymoon all in the same place.
